I have heard different opinions on protecting lines, legs, etc. from the shroud turnbuckles. Does anyone have their own opinion they'd like to share?

I currently have plastic shroud covers (with caps) covering my turnbuckled. Aside from being a bit scarred and dirty, I'm OK with them. Some people like tape, and some people say you shouldn't use anything.

Does anyone care to comment?

Cheers,

For years I used white plastic shroud covers. After reading about letting stainless steel get fresh air, I decided to take them off. Now I don't worry about the weakening of them but my jib sail is getting dirty. I think I will stay the way I am now since it is safer.
